So honoured to have this work selected for this year’s Winston Taylor Portrait prize. This will be my fourth time in the awards, but it doesn’t get any less thrilling, each time validates a new direction, and an opportunity to share the work with the world. Vitiligo: Violeta Sofia from my new series Mutinous Bodies, reflects on the experience of chronic health. Challenging the role of the photographer, I collaborated with the confessional space of an autophotobooth to mimic the experience of an unreliable body. Then transformed the temporary nature of the photostrip into a tender handmade photopolymer etching.
Can’t wait to see the final selection of contemporary portraits in the gallery and meet all the other photographers.
