I ve just installed 30 portraits from One Hundred Years in Shoreditch Park Surgery. No one wants to be stuck in the no mans land of a waiting room, life on hold, bored, anxious… waiting for vaccinations , diagnosis of test results, wriggling children, head pounding but while you are stuck in this purgatory maybe patients will find some relief in putting themselves in someone elses shoes for a few minutes . By looking at the portraits and reading the words they can escape their own thoughts and in turn reflect on how we can all relate to each others situations with a little more empathy a little more understanding if we take the time to listen.
Celebrating the community back in the community is always where i dreamed to show this work so i couldn’t be happier to be taking over this space for a year.
