I’m delighted to share that Mutinous Bodies (a series of six photopolymer etchings), a bespoke box of annotated Autoportraits, and three prints from UnBecoming have been acquired by Wellcome Collection. When I began this body of work four years ago, I was motivated by my own experiences of living with chronic health, and by the lack of representation of these experiences within galleries and museums. To see the work enter the Wellcome Collection feels particularly meaningful. I couldn’t be happier that these works now have a permanent home where they can continue to open up conversations around disability, chronic health and the stigma that surrounds them.As journalist Charlotte Jansen writes:

“Autoportraits: Mutinous Bodies challenges conventional ideas of the portrait, of who has the authority to represent illness, and how. The individual images can also be seen as a collective chorus, an act of solidarity.”I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to this work and helped it find its way into the world.
