Exciting news: The National Portrait Gallery has acquired this portrait of the fabulous Jasleen Kaur. I’m delighted that the gallery now represents Jasleen in the collection and continues supporting my work. This portrait was taken for Hackney Studios, my 2nd monograph published in 2018 by @hoxtonminipress. It is a series of artists’ portraits in their studios around the borough, each creative nominating the next, creating an integral family tree celebrating integrity over established faces. You can see the seeds of Jasleen’s future work looking around one of her first studios in Hackney. As you are probably aware, Jasleen won the Turner Prize last week. It’s a fantastic show with outstanding work from all four nominees. Catch it in Tate Britain till Feb 16th.

I love this portrait of Jasleen, glowing like a statue in her studio altar; it was a privilege to meet and capture her back then and fabulous to watch her career grow and now celebrate her in a public collection, the best end to the year to find a safe home for her portrait.
