As you can see i was pretty delighted to be asked by Stik to capture the reaction to his new permanent sculpture in Hoxton Square. I have long been a super fan of Stik, like ghostly guardians, his ghostly figures pop up all over London, quietly observing the city below, i’ve always taken great comfort in his work…it makes me feel like i’m home, whenever i come across one. This new sculpture is Stik’s love letter to Hackney, where he has been creating street art for the last 20 years.
“The work’s theme is clear: love and unity in an era when social distancing and stormy politics are pulling us apart. And its timing couldn’t be more poignant as attitudes towards inclusivity in public statues evolve.”
Click on the link below to learn more about the sculpture and you can see me taking photos in the park in the video. An absolute delight to be involved in this project and talk to the community who it was created for … treat yourself to a walk down to Hoxton Square to see these figures, ever present through the changing season, holding hands no matter what is to come. Perfect sculpture and sentiment for this year, where we have been kept apart and often felt isolated.
