I loved having to make some portraits of Dylan Law for ID magazine. One of those beautiful sessions led by curiosity and conversation. Dylan met at my studio, where we were surrounded by 20 years of my portrait projects, capturing Hackney residents. I was struck by his passion for representing his community, his perspective as a young person, and how important it is to have this point of view in the room. He is 19 and is the Green Party candidate for Deputy Mayor of Hackney in this year’s May election.
