I was invited to show a large selection of  sixteen portraits from One Day Young  in a group show at Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool. The theme of Kinship is explored by seven female photographers including some of my favourites Pixy Liao Lydia Goldblatt Margarat Mitchell amongst others.

The artists here offer different ways to think about and practice our sense of kin: as friends, family, and partners. The exhibition presents projects, addressing traditional ideas of how people might relate to others. Some of the projects on show seek to move beyond categories often used to regulate relationship dynamics, such as age, gender or position within a hierarchy.

“Without Kinship we are bereft and with it, dissatisfied. Families are comedies and tragedies, full of betrayals and fierce loyalties. The paradoxes of kinship are portrayed well and in many guises in this new and exciting exhibition.”
